Staff Data Scientist, Search and Recommender Systems

They are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring:

• Proven Expertise: A sustained track record of making significant, self-directed, and end-to-end contributions to large and impactful AI-based projects. A deep understanding of the ‘why’ behind the work, thinking beyond immediate tasks.
• Technical Leadership: Experience driving technical projects and providing leadership in a fast-paced environment, including task planning, conducting code reviews, and individual code contributions.
• Data Intuition: A strong sense of data intuition, capable of developing solutions from first principles and adapting them to unique environments where off-the-shelf techniques may not suffice.
• Product Focus: A product-focused mindset with the passion and ability to contribute to discovering what will delight clients and advance the industry. Ability to pitch ideas to various audiences.
• Start-up Mentality: Comfort with start-up culture, embracing risks, making smart investments, and adapting to shifting priorities.
• Collaborative Confidence: Ability to work confidently and without ego, advocating for well-reasoned ideas while being open to trade-offs, willing to learn, and supportive of teammates.

What you bring to the Team:

• Versatile Expertise: Broad AI knowledge with mastery in some areas, ideally with 5+ years of experience in AI research and applications. An advanced degree in a relevant field is a plus but not mandatory; your contributions are what matter most.
• Innovative Application: A history of translating the latest AI research into real-world solutions or novel product ideas, with a commitment to staying updated on AI advancements.
• Agile Collaboration: Comfort working on an agile, distributed team across multiple time zones and continents.
• Effective Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
• Technical Proficiency: Strong programming and big data processing skills, with experience in implementing machine learning or data mining algorithms on large datasets.
• Product focus: Understanding of how to productionize ML models and collaborate with the team to deploy them.
• Specialized Knowledge: Deep expertise and hands-on experience in some of the following areas is a plus:
