A global social media platform centered around short-form video content allows users to create, watch, and share short videos, typically ranging from a few seconds to three minutes (though some users can now post longer videos). It’s known for its personalized feeds, ease of video creation with built-in music, sound effects, filters, and special effects, and its highly engaging nature. In China, a separate version of the app with similar functionality caters to the Chinese audience.

Job Title: Big Data Engineer, TikTok Recommendation Architecture

Responsibilities

As a Big Data Engineer focusing on Recommendation Architecture, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Designing and implementing a robust offline data architecture to support large-scale recommendation systems.
  • Developing flexible, scalable, stable, and high-performance storage and computing systems.
  • Troubleshooting production system issues, and designing and implementing necessary mechanisms and tools to ensure the stability of overall production operations.
  • Building industry-leading distributed systems for storage and computing to provide a reliable infrastructure for massive data and large-scale business systems.
  • Developing and implementing techniques and analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software.
  • Applying data mining, data modeling, natural language processing, and machine learning techniques to extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Visualizing, interpreting, and reporting data findings, and potentially creating dynamic data reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with various open-source big data frameworks, such as Hadoop, Hive, Flink, FlinkSQL, Spark, Kafka, HBase, Redis, RocksDB, ElasticSearch, etc.
  • Proficiency in Java, C++, and other programming languages.
  • Strong coding and troubleshooting abilities.
