Principal Machine Learning Engineer (Ads)
The Critical Tasks You Will Perform
They are seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to partner with product teams and other engineers to solve Ads business problems through Machine Learning. This role involves setting the direction and goals for a sizeable team, concerning project impact, Machine Learning system design, and Machine Learning excellence. You will re-evaluate the tradeoffs of already shipped features/ Machine Learning systems and drive large efforts across multiple teams to reduce technical debt, designing from first principles. Leading a 10+ people team from a technical perspective, you will develop Machine Learning best practices and influence engineering culture. You will be the go-to person to escalate the most complex online/ production performance and evaluation issues, requiring an in-depth knowledge of how the machine learning system works with systems around it. This role includes code deliverables that will tie the Machine Learning solutions you develop to their ad delivery stack. Mentoring junior machine learning engineers and providing insightful feedback will also be a key part of your responsibilities.
What Essential Skills You Will Need
The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, data mining, artificial intelligence, or a related technical field. A Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience is required. You should have experience developing machine learning models at scale from inception to making a business impact, along with a background in machine learning, control theory, and experience optimizing ads serving stacks. Good experience developing scalable machine learning solutions, an understanding of the software development life-cycle and engineering practices, and experience working on a range of optimization problems are essential.
