This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing Data & Analytics team within the Financial Services sector. As a Data Engineer, you will leverage your passion for technology and data, along with your financial services experience, to contribute to diverse projects. Whether you are starting your consulting career or seeking your next challenge, your expertise in data and analytics will be highly valued.
Your key responsibilities
- Clearly explain data and analytics insights to both technical and business stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with data engineers, business analysts, and business stakeholders.
- Develop batch and real-time data ingestion and transformation pipelines using ETL tools and technologies like Kafka.
- Migrate data from legacy platforms to cloud environments.
- Present data through visualizations and design relational databases.
- Identify trends, patterns, and correlations in complex datasets.
- Participate in all phases of the project lifecycle, from strategy to implementation.
- Configure and coordinate data pipelines across projects.
- Develop data pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory, AWS Kinesis, and Spark.
- Migrate and transform large, complex datasets from systems like Teradata to cloud platforms using Azure tools and ETL tools (ideally 5+ years of experience).
- Develop data and reporting platforms using technologies such as Microsoft Azure, SAP BW, Teradata, PowerBI, or Cognos.
Skills and attributes for success
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach.
- Knowledge of end-to-end project delivery methodologies (SDLC, Agile, or hybrid).
- Ability to leverage technology for continuous learning and service improvement.
- Strong presentation skills and proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Good understanding of the financial services industry.
To Qualify for the role, you must have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, preferably 1+ year in consulting.
- Understanding or practical experience with semi-structured and unstructured data.
- Deep understanding of big data technologies, concepts, tools, and benefits.
- Experience with Java, C#, or C++.
- Hands-on experience with HiveQL.
- Familiarity with data ingestion tools like Kafka, Flume, and Sqoop.
- Knowledge of Hadoop workflow/scheduling tools such as Oozie.
- Strong coding background with Python, SAS, SQL, or R.
- Experience with batch ETL tools (DataStage, Informatica, Microsoft SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Talend) OR open-source data integration tools (Kafka, Nifi).
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Experience with data and analytics approaches like data mesh.
- Previous experience working with data, data environments, databases, and large datasets, potentially in consulting.
- Ability to deploy, manage, and administer Hadoop-based components.
- Ability to design, build, install, configure, and support Hadoop-based applications.
- Experience in investigating and handling data quality issues.
- Understanding of data modeling (ER models) techniques.
