Job Description
The Principal Engineer in Data Engineering will lead enterprise-level data projects, focusing on architecting and delivering solutions with diverse data sources. Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing and implementing data management initiatives for secured data usage within the Ministry and across partnering agencies.
  • Architecting data platforms to enhance accessibility and usability.
  • Ensuring data projects and products comply with governance, enabling departments to utilize data effectively.
  • Reviewing enterprise data management and governance policies to ensure data accuracy, integrity, security, and privacy.
  • Resolving project challenges and contributing to risk assessments from a technical and architectural perspective.
  • Staying updated with the latest technological trends and evaluating technologies for functionality.

The role requires working across multiple units and collaborating with other government and industry partners.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant working experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • Expertise in data architecture, data modeling, and database design.
  • Experience with data warehousing, ETL/ELT, and business intelligence technologies.
  • Knowledge of AI and MLOps is advantageous.
  • Strong interest in innovation, particularly in data analytics and management.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong facilitation, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for internal and external stakeholder engagement.
