Data Scientist – Research (Behavioral)

Job Description
The Data Solutions team is responsible for advancing the company’s data business model by leveraging large volumes of high-quality labeled data. The team strategically combines quantitative and qualitative data to uncover insights and transform them into impactful products.

The Behavioral Data Scientist will lead innovative research to bridge the gap between human understanding and machine learning. They will develop computational signals for machine learning models, identify patterns to interpret natural signals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver advanced analytical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical research to bridge the understanding between human cognition and machine learning.
  • Build a library of elementary concepts to structure content factors.
  • Translate natural signals (image, audio, text, video) into computational signals for machine learning models.
  • Identify patterns indicating intentions and validate findings with experiments.
  • Apply statistical and machine learning techniques (e.g., logistic regression, clustering, decision trees, neural networks) to multi-modal datasets.
  • Develop innovative approaches to address pressing questions, analyze complex datasets, and scale automated processes for measurable impact.
  • Collaborate with machine learning engineers and product partners to understand business needs and provide data-driven solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in social, behavioral, human-centric interaction, or cognitive sciences (e.g., Linguistics, Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology). A Ph.D. is a plus.
  • Experience in quantitative fields (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics) is an advantage.
  • Proven experience working with large datasets and relational databases (e.g., Hive, SQL).
  • 3–7 years of hands-on behavioral or cognitive research experience in a business environment.
  • Proficiency in Python packages such as pandas, seaborn, scikit-learn, dplyr, or nltk.
  • Strong skills in statistics, experimental design, and data mining techniques (e.g., k-means clustering, regression, decision trees, neural networks).
  • Distinctive communication skills with the ability to present technical content to diverse audiences.
  • Intellectual curiosity, excellent problem-solving skills, and strong quantitative abilities.
