Data Science Manager – Generative AI and Machine Learning Leadership

Job Description
The Manager, AI/ML, will lead a team of machine learning engineers in developing and deploying production-grade generative AI applications. This role involves fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration, ensuring best practices, and aligning AI initiatives with organizational goals. Key responsibilities include mentoring team members, managing AI product deployment, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to address complex challenges and drive innovation.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of machine learning engineers, focusing on project prioritization, best practices, and professional growth.
  • Foster an inclusive and collaborative team culture that encourages engagement and innovation.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of scalable AI applications, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain best practices, benchmarks, and processes for AI development, including model benchmarking and test-driven development.
  • Facilitate design and strategy sessions to address complex AI challenges and promote inclusive design and accessibility.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align project roadmaps, timelines, and resource allocation.

Qualifications and Experience:

Required:

  • Master’s or PhD in computer science, data science, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of machine learning engineering or data science experience and proven team leadership skills.
  • Strong expertise in managing machine learning systems, including data pipelines, model training, and production workflows.
  • Proficiency in Python and cloud platforms such as AWS, with a track record of deploying ML models in production.
  • Advanced knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including feature engineering and modeling.
  • Experience in managing and guiding machine learning teams, ensuring successful project execution.
  • Strong ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform and familiarity with DevOps practices (model monitoring, observability).
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI applications.
  • Knowledge of architectural design patterns for scalable ML solutions.
