Job Description
The Staff Data Engineer will play a critical role in designing and developing data-driven software solutions to address complex business challenges. This role involves hands-on development, strategic planning, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality applications and services.
Key Responsibilities:
Architect, design, and implement data-based software applications to meet business requirements.
Lead development efforts, ensuring secure, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
Design and build real-time, fault-tolerant, and scalable applications.
Oversee programming and testing functions, mentoring junior team members.
Identify opportunities for improvements in standards, processes, and methodologies.
Conduct hands-on activities including POCs, design, coding, testing, implementation, and documentation.
Collaborate with architects, system analysts, project managers, and QA teams to align business needs with technical solutions.
Develop robust APIs and implement secure coding practices.
Work with global and virtual teams to resolve development and support issues.
Analyze and resolve production environment issues while minimizing risk.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 6+ years of relevant experience or BS Degree with 8+ years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience architecting and developing real-time, scalable applications.
Expertise in API development and design patterns.
Strong knowledge of Hadoop framework and Big Data technologies (HDFS, MapReduce, Spark, HBase, Kafka).
Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python (knowledge of .NET is a plus).
Deep understanding of database concepts, systems architecture, and data structures.
Familiarity with Java, J2EE, Angular, Spring Cloud, Microservices, and API development.
Previous exposure to financial services (preferred but not required).
Proven experience in Agile and Test-Driven Development environments.
Ability to work independently, juggle multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
