Job Description
The Senior/Lead Data Engineer is tasked with designing, developing, and optimizing scalable data solutions on Alibaba Cloud’s big data platforms, including MaxCompute and Hologres. This hands-on role involves building robust data pipelines, ensuring high data quality, and supporting the organization’s data-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience with Alibaba Cloud’s big data ecosystem and the ability to lead technical efforts in complex data warehousing environments.
Key Responsibilities
Data Pipeline Development and Optimization
Design and implement efficient ETL/ELT pipelines on Alibaba Cloud to support large-scale data ingestion, transformation, and loading.
Integrate data from various systems into a centralized data warehouse while ensuring accuracy and accessibility for analytics and reporting.
Optimize and monitor data pipelines for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency within Alibaba Cloud environments.
Data Warehouse Management
Develop and manage big data warehouses on Alibaba Cloud using tools like Hologres, MaxCompute, and DataWorks.
Apply data modeling best practices to organize data for optimal query performance and accessibility.
Implement validation, monitoring, and quality assurance protocols to maintain high data quality standards.
Collaboration and Team Management
Collaborate with data analysts, scientists, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into tailored data solutions.
Guide team members on data engineering best practices and provide technical mentorship.
Lead the technical implementation of data engineering projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Data Governance and Compliance
Document data pipelines, warehouse structures, and governance practices thoroughly.
Ensure compliance with data governance policies for security and privacy in collaboration with relevant teams.
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
5+ years of data engineering experience with deep expertise in Alibaba Cloud, particularly Hologres, MaxCompute, and related tools.
Proficiency in big data technologies (e.g., DataWorks, Flink) and strong skills in SQL, Python, or Spark.
Ability to independently manage complex data engineering tasks and lead technical efforts.
Proven track record in mentoring junior engineers and setting data engineering standards.
Strong team collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external teams.
