Data Center Engineer
About the Position: We are seeking a seasoned Data Center Engineer to design, implement, scale, and maintain our regional data centers across the Asia Pacific region.
This hands-on role demands a strong communicator with exceptional interpersonal skills to manage projects and oversee daily operational tasks in Hong Kong and our remote Asian locations.
You will collaborate with a diverse team comprising network, server, facilities engineering, market data, and trading experts, along with external data center operators, colocation and smart hands service providers, and cabling/hardware/telco vendors.
Your responsibilities will include:
Deploying, cabling, configuring, and troubleshooting various network and server equipment
Designing deployment plans for new equipment adhering to industry best practices
Coordinating logistical tasks, including procurement, shipping, movement, and inventory management of equipment, cabling, and parts
Our data centers are the backbone of our technological infrastructure. You will play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of security, organization, documentation, safety, cleanliness, and resource management at each data center location.
About You:
5+ years of data center experience with a deep understanding of industry best practices and cabling methodologies, including vendor management
Self-motivated and capable of independent work, with a continuous improvement mindset
Strong foundation in networking fundamentals, including basic knowledge of switching and routing protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot Layer 2 and 3 connectivity issues
Proficiency in Linux environments, with additional scripting skills in Bash, Python, or OCaml being advantageous
Proven experience in deploying a wide range of server and network hardware (e.g., Dell, Cisco, Arista, Ciena, Corning, Ortronics products)
Working knowledge and experience in designing, deploying, testing, and troubleshooting copper and fiber cabling
Willingness to travel 2-4 weeks annually and work occasional evening and weekend shifts
Fluency in English is mandatory, with proficiency in other Asian languages (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin, or Japanese) being preferred
