Data Engineer (Cloud Engineer)

Job Description:
As a Data Engineer, you will handle end-to-end software development and support across projects, quarterly change requests, and L3 production fixes, focusing on Kubernetes-based platforms. Your role will encompass application design, development, testing, and support, with a focus on frameworks and quality assurance. Key tasks include implementing OpenShift Kubernetes applications, conducting POCs for new data technologies, and collaborating on cross-functional development teams using agile methodologies.

Responsibilities:

• Develop frameworks and technical features for Kubernetes-based applications.
• Conduct POCs for new data technologies and container platforms.
• Create technical documents like solution designs and program specifications.
• Design and develop software applications, data integration, UIs, and automation.
• Work with the production support team on root cause analysis, code review, and unit testing.
• Independently install, customize, and integrate software packages.

Required Functional Skills:

• Extensive experience in data warehouse and analytics platforms, preferably within financial services.
• Proficiency in OpenShift Kubernetes, microservices development (Node.js, React, Java, RabbitMQ, Akka framework, etc.), and container deployment management.
• Hands-on experience with automation and deployment tools such as Jenkins, Jfrog, Gradle, Bitbucket, and Groovy.
• Expertise in security, load balancing, scheduling, and resiliency planning.

Required Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D), OpenShift, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Strong programming skills in Node.js, React, Java, Python, and Scala.
• Familiarity with tools such as Helm, Docker, Control-M, Splunk, and Prometheus.

Certifications (Preferred):

• OpenShift, Kubernetes, Docker, SQL, Java, Python, or Scala certifications.
• Automation/scripting certifications in CtrlM, Shell Scripting, or Groovy.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 10 years of relevant industry experience.
