Role Overview

As a Data Engineer within the Data Office, you will lead the development of key data infrastructure and analytics solutions to support the ministry’s policy and operational needs. You will work with various divisions to build and manage a centralized data analytics platform that enables efficient data access and governance.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate disparate data sources and systems into a centralized data analytics platform.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data analytics requirements for policy formulation, corporate operations, and data governance.
• Design and implement scalable data pipelines and ETL processes tailored to the needs of the ministry.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval mechanisms using cloud-based data warehousing solutions, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
• Establish and enforce data governance standards to ensure data quality, integrity, and security.
• Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams on data engineering best practices and cloud architecture.
• Build data connections to analytics tools like Tableau to enable seamless data visualization.

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of relevant data engineering experience, ideally within government or public sector environments.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python for ETL processes and data pipeline implementation.
• Strong understanding of cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and data security regulations.
• Experience with data warehousing technologies like Databricks and Snowflake.
• Familiarity with data governance principles and government privacy regulations.
• Experience integrating data into analytics tools like Tableau.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with strong problem-solving abilities.
