Contract Data Engineer (2-year contract)

Role Overview
As a Contract Data Engineer, you will collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and internal stakeholders to build and optimize data tools, pipelines, and integrations to support machine learning models and data analytics. You will play a key role in ensuring data systems meet business requirements and that all data processes are scalable and efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management
- Manage projects involving internal stakeholders and vendors, ensuring timely delivery of data engineering implementations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate models and deploy data pipelines across production systems.
- Monitor project milestones and communicate progress and issues to management.
- Engineering Support for Business Objectives
- Prepare, cleanse, and verify the integrity of data for analysis.
- Design and develop in-house data processing pipelines to retain agility in responding to operational changes.
- Review vendor-designed data pipelines to ensure they meet business needs and integrate seamlessly into existing systems.
- Help architect integrations and data flows between third-party sources, AWS Cloud data warehouses, and internal systems.
- Identify and implement process improvements, such as automating manual workflows and enhancing data delivery systems.
- Develop monitoring tools to track integration success and address issues proactively.
- Implement DataOps best practices for continuous integration and deployment across the data lifecycle.
- Data Integration and Management
- Collaborate with teams to improve current data integration processes and optimize data pipelines.
- Work with partners to assemble large, complex datasets for business use cases.
- Contribute to the development of an integrated data model for multi-source analysis.
- Recommend improvements to enhance data reliability and quality, including refining data collection procedures.
- Assess the accuracy and effectiveness of data sources to ensure they meet data quality standards.
Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining data workflows.
- Proven track record in managing stakeholders and delivering data engineering solutions on time and within scope.
- Experience in building and optimizing data pipelines and integrating systems.
- Familiarity with AWS services (e.g., SageMaker, Lambda, Redshift) and Qlik Sense is advantageous.
- Experience with DataOps, DevOps processes, and deploying analytics systems is a plus.
- Strong programming skills in R, Python, and SQL for database management and data wrangling.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex data concepts clearly to business audiences.
